Want a fun way to improve your practical handgun skills? Try Pin Shooting!
Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - 09:41 PM
Public Want a fun way to improve your practical handgun skills?

Try Pin Shooting!

Load up your favorite centerfire handgun (38 Special/9mm Luger or larger caliber) with six rounds and prepare to face off with five bowling pins standing on a table at 25 feet in a 10 second time period. Sounds easy, but it's really quite a challenge and a lot of fun!

This game teaches practical handgun safety skills, rapid engagement of multiple targets, rapid sight picture acquisition, and controlled aimed fire.

Every pin knocked completely off the table is worth 10 points and any pin knocked down, but not off the table is worth 5 points. And if you're good enough to knock five pins off the table with 5 rounds (leaving one round unfired), you have the option of keeping the unfired round for 10 points or you can gamble and use that round to shoot at a 8 inch plate hung at 35 yards - hit the plate and it gains you 30 additional points - miss it and you get nothing.

Range Upgrades have been completed to the point of allowing the Pin Shooting League to begin! Pin Shooting League will officially begin Sunday, May 23rd.

The Stone Bank Sportsmen's Club is pleased to announce their 2004 Pin Shooting League. The Pin Shooting League begins in May and is run most Tuesday nights from 6:30 to dusk and many Sundays from 11:00am to 1:00pm (check their calendar at www.wisbsc.com) through September. Each "round" of pin shooting consists of four tables (24 rounds of ammunition) and costs $2.00 per "round" for league members and $3.00 per "round" for non-league members. The League entry fee is $10.00 and league shooters must shoot a minimum 10 rounds of 4 tables to qualify for league prizes. In fact, league members are encouraged to shoot as many rounds as they want as only their top ten scores are kept for league average/ranking.

The Stone Bank Sportsmen's Club's 2004 Pin Shooting League is open to the public and NRA Certified Firearms Instructors and Range Safety Officers will be on-site to coach any individual who desires help improving their handgun shooting skills.
